Machine Overview

This 2008 Haas VR-8/40 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center combines a large work envelope with full 5-axis contouring capability for complex precision machining. It provides 64″ X-axis, 40″ Y-axis, and 30″ Z-axis travels, a 64″ x 36″ table rated for up to 4,000 lbs, a 10,000 RPM CAT 40 spindle powered by a 30 HP motor, and a 24+1 automatic tool changer. The integrated 5-axis system provides A- and B-axis tilt capability of approximately ±32 degrees.

The machine is equipped with a Haas 5-axis CNC control with color LCD monitor, high-speed machining software, Renishaw WIPS tool and part probing, through-spindle coolant, Haas Intuitive Programming System, user-definable macros, coordinate rotation and scaling, spindle orientation, programmable coolant nozzle, remote jog handle, USB interface, and coolant system with tank and pump. With only 1,109 feed-cut hours noted, this VR-8/40 offers an unusual combination of large travels, full 5-axis capability, and relatively low recorded cutting time.
